PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: lithium titanate powder which is large in initial charge/discharge capacity and initial charge/discharge efficiency, superior in charge rate characteristic, and small in amount of gas generation when stored under a high-temperature condition; a material of active substance, including the lithium titanate powder; and a power storage device arranged by use of the material of active substance.SOLUTION: Lithium titanate powder has a specific surface area of 5 m2/g or more, which is determined by BET method. Supposing that of peak intensities of the lithium titanate powder, the diffraction peak intensity coming from (111) plane in a range of diffraction angles 2θ=18.1-18.5° is 100 in X-ray diffraction measurement in a range of 2θ=10°-90°, the total of detected main peak intensities of all of other phases is 5 or less.SELECTED DRAWING: None
