PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a motor unit for harmonic drive gear reducer that is compactly attached to a harmonic drive gear reducer.SOLUTION: A motor unit 3 for harmonic drive gear reducer comprises: a rotary shaft 52 extending in an axial direction; a rotor part 3a which integrally rotates with the rotary shaft 52; a stator part 3b arranged so as to oppose the rotor part 3a; and a motor casing 51 to which the stator part 3b is fixed. The motor casing 51 has a second cover 62 which covers a rotor part 3a and a stator part 3b from the other side of the axial direction. The rotary shaft 52 extends for the other side of the axial direction, penetrates the second cover 62, and is connected to a cam 12. The second cover 62 has a support part 64 which extends for the other side of the axial direction, supports the rotary shaft 52 rotatably, and is positioned inside an external tooth gear 14 in the state where a harmonic drive gear reducer 2 is attached to the motor casing 51.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
