PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce vertices and sides even in a complex embedded graph, and to prevent the vertex position from being limited to the vertex position of the original embedded graph.;SOLUTION: In a two-dimensional data simplification device for simplifying multiple points arranged at different positions, and two-dimensional data, an optimization processing unit includes a first linear transformation section performing predetermined linear transformation for a first matrix derived from a first evaluation function and a second evaluation function, a convex projecting section generating a second vector by performing convex projection operation based on a first vector obtained based on the linear transformation, and predetermined parameters, a second linear transformation section performing linear transformation with transposed linear transformation for the second vector, and a subtraction section for generating a second matrix by subtracting the second vector, subjected to linear transformation, from the second linear transformation section, and the position of a point where the sum of the first and second evaluation values is minimum is optimized by using the second matrix.;SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4;COPYRIGHT: (C)2018,JPO&INPIT
