PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of diagnosing multiple myeloma (MM).;SOLUTION: In certain embodiments, a method of diagnosing multiple myeloma (MM) comprises the steps of: (a) detecting an amount of BCMA polypeptide or a fragment thereof in a biological sample obtained from a subject; and (b) comparing the amount of BCMA polypeptide or a fragment thereof detected in the step (a) to a predetermined cut-off value or to an amount detected in a control serum sample, where an increased amount of BCMA polypeptide or a fragment in the biological sample of (a) as compared to the predetermined cut-off value or amount in the control serum sample of (b) indicates presence of MM, where the biological sample is a serum sample or supernatant obtained from culture of subject's bone marrow mononuclear cells or peripheral blood mononuclear cells.;SELECTED DRAWING: None;COPYRIGHT: (C)2018,JPO&INPIT
