PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lateral type simple drainage system that can be easily installed in a lower part of an expansion space even in a narrow space between a bridge pier and a bridge girder floor slab, and a method of constructing the same.SOLUTION: A lateral type simple drainage system 1 is comprised of: a flexible nearly U-shaped water stop sheet 3 which covers a lower part of an expansion space 24 situated in a space 26 between a bridge pier 21 and a bridge girder floor slab 25; an edge bellow cover 5 installed at each end of the water stop sheet in the longer direction; a drain pipe 6 installed such that it penetrates the underside of the water stop sheet and extends downwards; a robust supporting material 4 supporting the water stop sheet by outwardly extending an upper edge part 31 which runs laterally along the longer direction and being disposed along the full length of the bottom of each upper edge; a support metal fitting 7 for clipping and fixing the upper edge part of the water stop sheet to the support material; and a fixing bolt 14 for fixing the lateral type simple drainage system to the underside of the floor slab, which is installed by penetrating both ends of the robust support material located on the underside of the floor slab protruding out from the width of the bridge pier.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
