PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluating whether or not a substance to be tested is a candidate substance for preventing or treating a type 2 diabetes of a human.SOLUTION: Provided is the method for evaluating whether or not a substance to be tested is a candidate substance for preventing or treating a type 2 diabetes of human, comprising:(a) a step for making a silkworm ingest a sugar (A) therefore making a state of the silkworm at least one or more states selected from a blood sugar abnormal state during hunger, sugar-tolerance-function abnormality, insulin resistance and abnormal state of lipid; (b) a step for administering the substance to be tested to the silkworm whose state has been made at least one or more states selected from the blood sugar abnormal state during hunger, sugar-tolerance-function abnormality, insulin resistance, and abnormal state of lipid acquired in the step (a); (c) a step for making the silkworm to which the substance to be tested has been administered, go on a fast; and (d) a step for measuring density of a sugar (B) in a fat body or blood of the silkworm which has been made go on a fast.
