PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate whether a document comprised of a plurality of sheets can be copied or not faster than the prior arts.SOLUTION: An ADF 10i feeds M (M≥2) pieces of sheets one by one so as to pass a slit 10j2 for reading. From the start of passage of the first sheet through the slit 10j2 for reading and to the end of passage of the M-th sheet, each time the sheets move for a predetermined length, an image sensor 10j1 images the slit 10j2 for reading in a direction of a print surface of the sheet, thereby acquiring a line image of which the length in a direction of feeding is a predetermined length. A CPU then determines whether a connection image that is obtained by connecting a plurality of continuous line images has a specific feature and if there is the specific feature, the CPU determines that there is the specific feature in the sheet relating to the connection image.
