Provided are: a ruthenium complex dye having a water content of 0.2 to 4.0 mass%; a dye solution containing said ruthenium complex dye; a photoelectric conversion element having semiconductor microparticles supporting said ruthenium complex dye; and a dye-sensitized solar cell comprising said photoelectric conversion element.
