PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion element that is excellent in characteristics, that has a high quantum yield in a long wavelength region, that is excellent in durability, that has a reduced performance difference between lots of the photoelectric conversion element, and to provide a metal complex dye for an element, a dye adsorption composition solution and a semiconductor electrode for a dye-sensitized solar cell, and a method of manufacturing of a battery.SOLUTION: A photoelectric conversion element 10 has a photoelectrode including semiconductor fine particles 22 sensitized with a metal complex dye 21. (1) The metal complex dye indicates a molar absorption coefficient of 1,000 Mcmor more in a wavelength region longer than 700 nm in ethanol solution absorption. (2) In the metal complex dye, a half value width of an absorption spectrum based on MLCT absorption of dye on the longest wavelength side in a transmission spectrum of a TiOelectrode having a film thickness of 2.5±0.5 m after dye adsorption at the time when a dye adsorption amount per unit surface area of the electrode is in a range from 1.0×10mol/cm to 2.0×10mol/cm, is less than 1.2 times of that at the time when the dye adsorption amount per unit surface area of the electrode is in a range from 1.0×10mol/cm to 1.0×10mol/cm.
