PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling sensation imparting external composition and a cooling sensation imparting patch which brings about a refreshing cool sensation or cold sensation that persists, when applied or affixed to the skin of a human body, by the menthol contained in the cooling sensation imparting external composition interacting with the moisture on the surface of the skin of the human body, and a production method therefor.SOLUTION: A method of producing the cooling sensation imparting composition and cooling sensation imparting patch comprises: (I) a menthol dissolving step of preparing a menthol solution by dissolving menthol in a liquid solvent component capable of dissolving menthol; (II) a menthol mixed composition preparation step of mixing the menthol solution obtained in step (I) with water as a solvent component not capable of dissolving water such that a portion of the menthol dissolved in the menthol solution is dissolved in the liquid solvent component/water mixed solution comprising the liquid solvent component capable of dissolving menthol and water, while the remaining dissolved menthol becomes insoluble and precipitates and disperses in the liquid solvent component/water mixed solution.SELECTED DRAWING: None
