Provided are a gripping tooth and a gripping tool equipped with the gripping tooth capable of reliably holding a test piece and executing a material test even on a brittle material or a composite material. A plurality of protrusions called blade-like eyes with sharp tips are formed on a tooth surface. When a test piece is gripped by a gripping tooth having a tooth surface 15 in which protrusions are formed by intersecting the cuts from two directions and the number of protrusions is reduced by reducing the interval between the protrusions, the protrusion is applied to each protrusion. Since the force becomes small, the depth at which each protrusion bites into the test piece can be made shallow, and a decrease in strength of the test piece at the grip portion of the test piece can be prevented.
