PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traffic lane identification apparatus capable of identifying a traffic lane of other vehicle even when ambient visibility is poor.SOLUTION: A map information acquisition section 12 acquires a road map of a present position Po of own vehicle Vo, and a radar unit 13 outputs an irradiation wave and inputs reflection waves to detect relative positions Pa of the other vehicles Va travelling adjacent to the own vehicle Vo. Using the present position Po of the own vehicle Vo on a predetermined XY-coordination, the road map and relative positions Pa of the other vehicles Va are overlapped therewith to identify the traffic lanes LA of the other vehicles Va. That is, a traffic lane LA which has a minimum lateral position (distance Dy) of the other vehicles Va relative to a lane center line LN of traffic lanes LA are identified as the traffic lanes LA of the other vehicles Va.
