PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal nanowire which is very thin and suppresses formation of an insulating surface oxide film without use of expensive silver.SOLUTION: A Cu-Ni metal nanowire contains Cu and Ni as metal components, is higher in Ni concentration in the surface layer part than the central part and has an average diameter of 50 nm or smaller. The molar ratio of Cu to Ni is e.g. in the range from 20:80 to 90:10. The Cu-Ni nanowire can be synthesized by reduction precipitation of Cu and Ni in the form of a wire of a length of 5 μm or longer in an alcohol solvent in which copper, nickel and halogen ions are present and an oleylamine is dissolved.
