PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discrimination system for soil distribution at a pit face that accurately clarifies ground conditions in a two-dimentional way at a pit face while excavating with a cutter head, thus enabling stable excavation management for a shield machine.SOLUTION: A discrimination system for soil distribution includes an acceleration sensor 14 fitted on an outer peripheral part of a cutter head 13, and a computer 20. The computer 20 includes a vibration data storage part 21 that stores excavation vibration data when a face plane 12 is excavated by a cutter bit 16, the data being stored for each predetermined angle of rotation of the cutter head 13, and a vibration data display part 22 that displays the excavation vibration data stored by the vibration data storage part 21 as an excavation vibration distribution 23 distributed in a circumferential direction along a circle that simulates a cross-section of the face plane. Based on a location of fluctuation 23a of vibration in the excavation vibration distribution 23 displayed by the vibration data display part 22, a boundary of a different soil may be discriminated in a ground 12a, 12b, and 12c at the face plane 12.
