Methods and compositions for reducing hyperthyroidism

The present invention relates to a method of reducing an animal's hyperthyroidism by providing the animal with a diet containing vitamin K. Vitamin K is provided in an amount effective to reduce factors such as creatinine, triiodothyronine (T3), and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). The present invention also relates to a pet food composition comprising an amount of vitamin K effective to reduce circulating levels of creatinine, T3, and TSH. Furthermore, a method for producing such a food composition is also disclosed.
