PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an ultrasonic welding apparatus capable of carrying out efficient rise and fall of vibration in a time as short as possible, without occurrence of overshooting of the amplitude or abnormal vibration, according to the loaded condition of a tool horn; and a method of controlling vibration of an ultrasonic welding apparatus.SOLUTION: A method of controlling vibration of an ultrasonic welding apparatus comprises: calculating a power value P on the rise of vibration of a tool horn 24, by means of a controller 4 (ST4); determining a power level n according to a power range among the power determination values by comparing with the power determination value P(n) (ST5, ST6); and applying an application voltage V added with a voltage change amount Vu(n) corresponding to the power level n to an ultrasonic vibrator 22 (ST8, ST12). When the application voltage V becomes equal to or higher than the voltage rise reference curve (ST3, yes), the application voltage V is changed along the reference curve (ST11).
