PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a response time.SOLUTION: A storage management system includes a first storage device and a second storage device. The first storage device is configured to store master data and manage address information indicative of information about an address of data stored in the first storage device and the second storage device. The second storage device is configured to perform processing in accordance with a request received by the second storage device from second storage means storing backup data, and an external device, and second control means is configured to, when the request received by the second storage device is a writing request, perform writing of writing data included in the writing request in the second storage means; and transmit an address of the writing data to first control means. The first control means is configured to update the address information on the basis of the address of the writing data; and notify the second control means to the effect that the address information is updated, and the second control means is configured to transmit a reply based on the notification to the writing request to the external device.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
