PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To favorably control a direction (posture) of a shield tunneling machine.SOLUTION: Chemical injection parts 13b are arranged at a top and bottom and left and right of an external periphery of a rear barrel plate 3b constituting a shield tunneling machine 1, and when bending a front barrel plate 3a of the shield tunneling machine 1 in order to correct a shield tunneling direction (posture) of the shield tunneling machine 1 on the soft cohesive ground, solution-type chemical injection materials are injected into the ground from the chemical injection parts 13b arranged at a side face opposite to the bending direction. By the injection pressure of the solution-type chemical injection materials, the front barrel plate 3a becomes easy to direct an initial bending direction, thereby the shield tunneling direction (posture) of the shield tunneling machine 1 can be favorably corrected.
