PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slag height measuring device capable of measuring slag height in a refining vessel such as a converter type refining furnace with good accuracy, a slag height measuring method and a preliminary treatment method of hot pig iron.SOLUTION: There is provided a slag height measuring device 5 for measuring slag height in a refining vessel by using a microwave, which includes: a measuring part 51 for measuring height of a horizontal surface of slag S in the refining vessel by transmitting and receiving the microwave and calculating slag height on the basis of results of measurement; and a pair of horn type antennas 54a and 54b used for transmitting and receiving the microwave respectively and having opening surfaces in which bottom ends 541a and 541b in a vertical direction are obliquely cut off, respectively.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
