An aqueous laundry pretreatment composition comprising: (i) 0.5 wt.% to 15 wt.% of a surfactant which is a nonionic surfactant or an ethoxylated anionic surfactant or a mixture thereof; (ii) 0.5 wt.% to 8 wt.% of at least one non-neutralized fatty acid having a pka greater than 5 to 20 ° C; (iii) 0.5 wt.% to 5 wt.% of at least one organic acid having a pka of 2 to 5 at 20 ° C, and (iv) 0.5 wt.% to 10 wt.% of an ester of water-insoluble fatty acid. The compositions provide a significant increase in the stain removal rate, especially against oily / sebaceous stains deposited on cotton or polyal cotton fabrics.
