These are systems and methods that are presented to reduce energy and water consumption in processes for producing fuel from renewable alcohol-containing feed streams. The alcohol content is directly converted to hydrocarbon-based transport fuels in a catalytic process, and heat is transferred between intermediate process streams to reduce thermal energy consumption. Total water consumption is reduced by catalytic process water recovery and water temperature reduction to reduce evaporative losses.
