The present invention relates to an extensible reinforcement assembly including a flat fabric layer and a biocompatible adhesive layer. The flat fabric layer is configured to extend along an extension geometric axis. The flat fabric layer includes extensible fibers and non-extensible fibers. The extensible fibers are arranged in a repeatable pattern. the extensible fibers are oriented along their respective trajectories which are each parallel to the geometric axis of extension. non-extensible fibers are arranged in a repeatable pattern and engaged with the extensible fibers. The adhesive layer is applied to the flat tissue and is configured to removably adhere the flat tissue layer to an end actuator of a surgical stapler.
