VARIABLLE-DIAMETER DEVICE FOR THE REPAIR OF ABDOMINAL AORTA ANEURYSMS

The invention relates to a device designed for the endovascular aneurysm repair of the aorta or other arteries. This device is composed of two mechanisms able to change the aorta diameter and stabilize the new diameter of the graft at the central neck in relation to the dilated diameter of the central infrarenal aortic neck. From these mechanisms, the first is provided with internal hooks (teeth) interlocked each time at the desired greatest diameter while the second device is provided with members being initially aligned at a180 deg. angle for enabling the subsequent increase of the diameter of the device. When the angle of the above members is lower than 180 degrees, the whole diameter of the device grows, pressing the wall of the natural vessel. The increase of the diameter of the device is ensured by an integral expansion sac. The teeth of the first mechanism are adequately manufactured to secure the device in the new desired diameter. The teeth of the second mechanism lock the device at the new diameter by pressing the wall of the vessel. The material of the device allows the x-ray control of the new diameter of the device. A sensor may be added for sensing the pressure between graft and neck’s wall.
