It can be seen from the present work, that the superelastic material model for Nitinol provided in the ANSYS finite element code shows a significant sensitivity to both the dissimilarity in tension and compression and the variation under cyclic loading of the material. It also suggests that a more comprehensive material model for use with commercially available finite element software should be investigated; this is outside the scope of the present work. With regard to the modelling of the proximal ring of the endovascular device, future models will be modelled using a 5~(th) cycle model with the inclusion of compression characteristic as the model has been observed to experience cyclic bending throughout its service life in vivo.
