摘要

The objective of this research work is to generate electricity in urban areas by the power of wind by customizing the traditional concept of wind mill. Idea is different as it is a completely fresh idea because we are cutting the boundaries of being in particular areas(coastal, hilly areas) which wind mills are facing. This customised version of wind mill can be used in between the residential area without harming to the people or the environment. To attain the desired height in urban areas a helium weather balloon is used in shape of a hollow cylinder. In between the hollow cylinder the whole mechanism of a power generation of a windmill is installed i.e; the rotor and the blades. Eco-Mill is a modern 7 meter (23 ft) diameter, 10 kW wind turbine designed for high reliability, low maintenance, and automatic operation in adverse weather conditions. This particular arrangement of Eco-Mill makes it different all the energy producing devices and makes it easy to operate. The hollow cylinder made of chloroprene polymer will be of size approximately 7.5 m inner diameter and 8.5m outer diameter. The balloon will be of 5m (approx) in length. The weight of rotor will be of 40kg in weight and the blades will be made of glass fibre because glass fibre is light in weight and high stress bearing capability. The height of the Eco-Mill is controlled by thick nylon cables which are connected to balloon with one end and other end is connected to the electronically controlled pulley system. To maintain the stability of the balloon of the Eco-Mill a device called gyroscope is installed which will signal the pulley system to maintain the stability as soon as the stability is disturbed. The start-up wind speed for Eco-Mill is 3.4m/s (7mph) and will start producing the power of 8.9 kW at 11m/s (24.6mph) and the nominal power of Eco-Mill will be 10kW at 12m/s (27mph).
