IDENTIFICATION OF MICRORNA 1285 AND ITS ROLE IN THE PROGRESSION OF TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS

ABSTRACT Identification of microRNA 1285 and its role in the progression of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus The invention discloses a novel method for determining the likelihood of a person developing Type 2 DM. The invention applies In silico tools to identify miRNA from type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (type 2 DM) using EST resource. Through insilico approach, the presence of an EST encoding hsa-miR- miR-1285 of type 2 DM was identified. Further studies reveal that hsa-miR-1285 is confirmed in the type 2 DM specific EST sequence among the predicted miRNAs secondary structure. Moreover, miR-1285 is determined to be responsible to induce type 2 DM, which plays a major role in human diabetes.
