IoT enabled condition monitoring system for tool wear in computerized numerical control (CNC) turning comprising accelerometer sensor, signal conditioner, data acquisition unit, computer, LED indication module and a Wi-Fi module. During turning, the vibrations are captured through the accelerometer sensor and processed in computer to calculate the root mean square (RMS) value. The RMS value of said sensor is correlated with the parameters such as machined hours, flank wear of the cutting tool and surface roughness (Ra) of the workpiece and displayed on the computer monitor. An LED indication module is enabled to indicate the status of the parameter of interest. The said Wi-Fi module transmits the received values of the parameters to IoT platform through internet access point. When the parameter of interest crosses the predefined threshold, SMS and email are triggered to inform the user.
