摘要

In Part 1 of this research series, it was shown that monitoring spindle vibration with an accelerometer mounted on the spindle of a CNC router could be used to monitor tool wear. In Part 2, the accelerometer was again mounted on the spindle and used to monitor tool wear. In addition, tool wear was correlated to surface quality of the workpiece, which was a melamine-coated particleboard. The cutting parameters were altered to improve the surface quality while monitoring spindle vibration to show that process control of the process is possible.
