A laboratory microfluidic sensor system on a chip for use in making rapid diagnostic measurements comprising: a laboratory microfluidic sensor test strip on a chip (LOC) comprising a substrate containing a plurality of wells and a plurality of microfluidic channels; a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag comprising an antenna, a unique identification number, an RFID electronic chip and at least one sensor module integrated with said substrate, with a plurality of conductive terminals connecting said RFID electronic chip and sensor module to said wells and said channels, and said electronic RFID chip and said sensor module being adapted to detect, control and transmit signals corresponding to reactions taking place in said wells and to transmit said identification number; a wireless reader adapted to communicate with said RFID tag and sensor module to receive said signals corresponding to said reactions taking place in said wells and said identification number, said wireless reader adapted to control said microfluidic channels and sample separation by sending signals to said RFID electronic chip and sensor module; and said wireless reader further adapted to communicate over a network by using multiple communication protocols to download software from a remote location to enable reading and analysis of said signals received from said RFID electronic chip and sensor module based in said unique identification number.
