Provided is an automated driving system (1), comprising: an assessment unit (7a) which assesses each of a plurality of assessment items which are conditions for switching from automated driving to manual driving; a driving switch control unit (7b) which, if the result of the assessment of all of the plurality of assessment items is affirmative, switches from the automated driving to the manual driving; and a notification control unit (7d) which, if the result of the assessment of any of the plurality of assessment items is negative, issues notification information to prompt a response from the driver. Before assessing all or a portion of the plurality of assessment items at a timing whereat the host vehicle passes or has passed a preset switch assessment location, the assessment unit assesses all or a portion of the plurality of assessment items at a timing prior to the host vehicle passing the switch assessment location.
