A sampling device (1) for taking beverage samples from a beverage line (2) containing a gaseous beverage under pressure comprises a connection (3) for the beverage line (2), a pump (5) having a compressible and expandable pump chamber (4), a particle filter (8), a discharging opening (10) for the beverage sample, an outlet opening (9) for waste, a control device (18) and a line system which has adjustable valves and is connected to the pump chamber (4), to the connection (3) for the beverage line (2), to the particle filter (8), to the discharging opening (10) and to the outlet opening (9). The sampling device (1) is configured such that, when the pump chamber (4) is connected to the connection (3), it is possible for a beverage sample with a volume smaller than the maximum volume of the pump chamber (4) to be introduced from the connection (3) into the pump chamber (4), that, thereafter, the pump chamber (4) is separated from the connection (3) and is expanded such that gas exits from the beverage sample, that, thereafter, the pump chamber (4) is connected to the outlet opening (9) and the pump chamber (4) is compressed such that gas which has passed out of the beverage sample is displaced in the direction of the outlet opening (9) and the beverage sample remains in the pump chamber (4), and that, thereafter, the pump chamber (4) is connected to the discharging opening (10) via the particle filter (8) and the pump chamber (4) is compressed such that the beverage sample is displaced in the direction of the discharging opening (10).
