A method and apparatus for controlling a serving robot to dance. The method comprises: setting particular part control commands for predetermined motions of parts of a serving robot, and setting dance control policies indicating numbers of command transmissions and command transmission intervals of the part control commands (S100); establishing a wireless connection with a loudspeaker box external to the serving robot upon receiving a dance start command, loading a song from a song library of the serving robot, and determining that the song currently loaded by the serving robot is consistent with a song to be played by the external loudspeaker box (S110); selecting a dance control policy used by the serving robot according to the loaded song, and determining a command transmission occasion of the part control command of the selected dance control policy (S120); and playing the song by the external loudspeaker box, transmitting a randomly selected part control command to the corresponding part of the serving robot upon the arrival of the command transmission occasion of the dance control policy until the number of command transmissions of the dance control policy is reached, and controlling the serving robot to dance to the song (S130). The method and apparatus are able to timely control a serving robot to dance with different gestures according to a loaded song, greatly rich dancing actions of the serving robot, and improves user experience.
