The present invention belongs to the field of electronic technology, and provides a hotel self-service method and a self-service system. The method comprises: reading information of a user's ID card; displaying to the user current remaining room locations and prices; reading the room selected by the user; determining whether the amount of consumption input by the user is greater than the room price; if it is not, then prompting the user to continue to input the amount of consumption or exiting from the amount of consumption input by the user; and if it is, setting a RFID chip required for unlocking the room selected by the user as the RFID chip of the user's ID card. The invention allows a customer to check in at a hotel by himself by reading and verifying the customer's ID card information, thereby reducing the operating costs of the hotel.
