The invention relates to a method for preventing the condensation of steam on a surface and to a device for installing into a moist area for preventing the condensation of steam on a surface. This is achieved by a method for preventing the condensation of steam on a surface and by a device for installing into a moist area in order to prevent the condensation of steam on a surface, said device comprising at least one heat exchanger which has a cooling means, wherein the cooling means is a water line with cold water arranged in the moist area. Air saturated with steam is dehumidified and cooled in the at least one heat exchanger. The device additionally comprises a ventilator with an autonomous energy source.
