Disclosed is a method for evaluating the safety of a fill material structure of a concrete-face dam, comprising: 1) collecting a critical hydraulic gradient J of the fill material structure of the concrete-face dam; 2) selecting a permissible allowable safety factor for stable permeability Fs of the fill material structure; 3) determining the maximum dam height H of the concrete-face dam and the horizontal width d of the fill material structure; 4) calculating the hydraulic gradient i experienced by the fill material structure, where i = H/d; 5) calculating a safety factor for stable permeability F of the fill material structure, F = J /i; and 6) comparing F with Fs as mentioned above, when F ≥ Fs, the fill material structure meets the structure having a stable permeability. This method has the characteristics of easy construction, short time consumption, simple evaluation and low costs.
