A method for detecting a road region and a lane by using lidar data, and a system therefor are disclosed. Provided is a method implemented by a computer, comprising the steps of: obtaining point type lidar data from a multi-channel lidar sensor mounted on a vehicle; and detecting a road region in which the vehicle can travel, by using a gradient of a lidar point between neighboring channels in a lidar point obtained from the multi-channel lidar sensor.
