1) Disclosed is an autonomous monitoring system based on magnetic field variation, which: (a) allows: (i) wear, faults and breakages in mining equipment to be predicted, and (ii)uncrushable material such as metal and /or material from "old mining" or earlier operations and/or parts or pieces of mining equipment to be anticipated and detected in real time; (b) is to be used/installed in mining and/or loading equipment, such as, but not limited to, power shovels, hydraulic shovels, front loaders or other types of loader; and (c) allows foreign metal bodies to be detected and the level of wear to be known and/or a breakage or fracture in the parts of said equipment to be detected almost immediately, particularly, but not limited to, the teeth or part of same, preventing unscheduled stoppages and accidents with staff on the ground and improving effectiveness and efficiency in the planning of predictive and preventative maintenance operations. 2) A method for installing the system. 3) A method for operating the system. 4) A tooth, wear element or part of a piece of mining and/or loading equipment, which comprises one or more monitoring devices.
