A portable evidence capturing device (100) comprises a storage (170); an image capturer (130) configured to capture a plurality of images in low light conditions and store the captured images in the storage(170);and a display (150) configured to display the captured images. The portable evidence capturing device (100) also comprises a location recording unit (140) configured to determine, when an image is captured by the image capturer(130), a time at which the image is captured and a location of the portable evidence capturing device(100), and store the determined time and the determined location in the storage (170). A system (10) is also provided comprising the portable evidence capturing device (100)and a server (200). The capture and storage of the time and location enables the use of the captured images for evidence, for example of an incident occurring on a guard's patrol, or of the fact that the guard has actually undertaken a patrol.
