Portable evidence capturing device, evidence capturing system and method

A portable evidence capturing device 100 comprises: an image capturer 130 configured to capture a plurality of images in low light conditions; a display 150 configured to display the images; a location recorder 140 configured to determine, when an image is captured, the time and the location of the device; and a storage 170 configured to store the captured images and time and location information. The image capturer 130 may be an infrared camera and the device may further comprise an illuminator 160 which emits infrared light, for example a plurality of infrared LEDs. The location recorder 140 may employ a satellite positioning system such as GPS. The device may comprise a connection unit 110 configured to transfer stored data to an evidence capturing server 200, this may be done in real time or on a periodic basis over a wireless link. The capture and storage of the time and location may enable the use of the captured images for evidence, for example of an incident occurring on a guard's patrol, or of the fact that the guard has actually undertaken a patrol.
