The present invention provides an application of PLXNA1 as a marker for predicting the occurrence, development, and prognosis of prostatic cancer and for distinguishing prostatic cancer being progressive and with high malignancy. By detecting a change in a PLXNA1 DNA copy number and expression levels of mRNA and a protein encoded thereby, a diagnosis and prognosis of prostatic cancer are performed. The present invention also provides an application of PLXNA1 as a therapeutic target for prostatic cancer. The present invention also provides a kit for diagnosing and predicting prostatic cancer.
