The invention provides a method for preparing 1,5-pentanediol via hydrogenolysis of tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol. The catalyst used in the method is prepared from a nitrogen-containing ligand functionalized organic polymer or inorganic hybrid material carrier supporting a precious metal and an auxiliary. When the catalyst is used for hydrogenolysis of tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol to prepare 1,5-pentanediol, the reaction activity is good and the selectivity is high. The nitrogen-containing ligand in the auxiliary and carrier is bound to the catalyst through coordination, thereby significantly reducing the loss of the auxiliary and making the catalyst highly stable. The catalyst has no obvious change in performance after multiple applications or long-term continuous life inspection, which reduces the overall process production cost.
