TOOTH TYPE JUDGMENT PROGRAM CROWN POSITION JUDGMENT DEVICE AND METHOD OF THE SAME

The present invention provides a crown position estimating program which can estimate a position of a tooth corresponding to a crown on a set of teeth, without designation of a point on the surface of the set of teeth by a user. A crown position determining program operates through the following processes: extracting 3D normal attaching point groups indicating a surface of 3D shape data from input 3D shape data; extracting a point group included in any one area to be analyzed among the extracted 3D normal attaching point groups; calculating a local coordinate system based on normal line distribution of point groups contained in the extracted area to be analyzed; calculating direction distribution on a local coordinate system of a unit normal vector corresponding to each point of point groups contained in the area to be analyzed; and referring to a memory unit memorizing direction distribution information on the local coordinate system of the unit normal vector corresponding to each point of point groups by corresponding to types of teeth, thereby estimating a tooth type corresponding to the calculated distribution as a tooth type in the area to be analyzed.
