3-D ELECTROSTATIC 3-D PRINTER USING LEVELING MATERIAL AND MECHANICAL PLANER

A three-dimensional printer includes a support material development station and a build material development station positioned to transfer a layer of build materials and support materials onto a middle transfer surface. A platen having a flat surface is disposed to touch the middle transfer surface. The middle transfer surface transfers the layer of the build material and the support material to the flat surface of the platen whenever the platen touches one of the layers on the middle transfer surface. A dispenser is positioned to deposit leveling materials on top of the layer on the platen, and a mechanical planer is brought into contact with the layers of leveling materials on the platen for a leveling process, so that an uppermost portion of the leveling material can be positioned in parallel with the flat surface of the platen.
