The present invention relates to self-optimized power management for DDR-compatible memory systems. A memory module according to the present invention comprises: a plurality of memory elements; an in-memory power management part; and an interface with a host computer via a memory bus. The in-memory power management part controls conversion of a power state of the memory module. The conversion of the power state of the memory module includes direct conversion from a low power down state to a maximum power down state.
