The present invention relates to a composition for prevention, improvement, or treatment of mental diseases including a bacterium-derived vesicle of the genus Lactobacillus as an effective ingredient. Since the inventors of the present invention have found that when an animal model of stress and depression is administered to a bacterium-derived vesicle of the genus Lactobacillus, the resistance to stress is effectively increased and a long-term chronic depressive action is effectively treated, it is expected that the present invention may be used for the development of medicines, health functional food, or the like so as to prevent, improve, and treat syndromes of the mental diseases such as stress, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, panic disorder, depression, autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity syndrome, schizophrenia, and the like.
