Treatment forcentral nervous system(CNS) disorders is known to belimited by thelowregenerative potential of neurons,and thus neurodegenerativeinsults became known as nearly irreversibleailments. Functionalrecovery foracquired CNS disorders, such as spinalcord injury (SCI), traumatic brain injury, ischemicstroke, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiplesclerosis (MS),and forcongenitalCNS abnormalities, such as spina bifida, is notspontaneousand effectivetreatmentsarelimited to non-existent.
