Manufacturing lines, processes and sintered articles

The manufacturing line includes a green material tape guided through the furnace to burn the organic binder material and then partially sinter the tape without using a setter board. A sintered article resulting from a production line may be thin with a relatively large surface area and, in a substantially unglazed state, has a small number of sinter inducing surface defects. As the partially sintered tape passes through the second furnace of the production line, a tension is applied to the partially sintered tape to form the resulting sintered article. The furnace is preferably vertically oriented and preferably operated continuously. Preferably, a ceramic material is used to form the tape.
