Provided is a cobalt oxide (Co_3O_4) for lithium secondary batteries, of which an average particle diameter is 14-19 μm, and tapped density is 2.1-2.9 g/cc. Moreover, provided are a production method thereof, a lithium cobalt oxide for lithium secondary batteries from cobalt oxide, and a lithium secondary battery having a positive electrode including the same. According to the present invention, it is possible to produce lithium secondary batteries with enhanced lifespan properties and high rate properties.
