A method for operating a memory controller is disclosed. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method for operating a memory controller comprises the following steps: a memory controller sequentially receives first data segments each having a first size from a host; the memory controller sequentially stores the first data segments to a buffer until the sum of changed data among data stored in the buffer included in the memory controller to become a second size; and the memory controller programs the changed data having the second size in a memory space of the nonvolatile memory as a second data segment.
