The present invention relates to a system for detecting an interaction intention of a user using multi-modal perception and a method of detecting an interaction intention of a user using the same. The system for detecting an interaction intention comprises a sensor unit, a signal processing unit, a multi-modal perception unit, a user personality input unit, and a user intention determination unit. The sensor unit includes a robot sensor unit mounted on a robot and an external sensor unit mounted outside the robot to sense information of a user. The signal processing unit processes a sensing signal about the sensed information of the user. The multi-modal perception unit selectively classifies the processed sensing signal to identify a user, a user position, an emotional state, and a conversation meaning. The user personality input unit receives information about a personality of the user.
